In July this year, Onsite Communications provided two-way radio systems, PA and media services for the 148th Open Championship held at Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland.
For the 41st year running, our company provided full communications services to The Open. This year’s 148th Open Championship, for the second time in 62 years, was held at Royal Portrush Golf Club in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
Our experienced Open team were presented with the logistic challenge of equipment transportation to this new venue, by land and sea, which was an unusual combination in our long history of servicing this event. All went smoothly with systems up and working as scheduled. Months of planning equipment, licences and transportation certainly paid off and served to create yet another successful Open for our company.
The event provided an exciting win for Irishman Shane Lowry on a spectacular course that has now earned a place in future Open selections.
